Education is the best Legacy_ Africa

The way to keep a nation behind is to distract her from information required for desired change, entertainment in form of music, videos and games has become so excessively accessible through the internet and instant messaging has become a major source of distraction in the 21^st century that it has become the next thing to breathing.

We are referred to as black people with limited knowledge compared to developed countries (almost forgetting that modern civilization started from ancient Egypt) because we have refused to celebrate the main secret to all round development which is education.

A famous philosopher described education as what you still have left in your brain after leaving school but I will describe Education as Information that you get that helps you out of a stage of mediocrity, of which when you stop getting more information you remain at the last level of mediocrity in which you were last informed about anything new.

Therefore education can never stop. The mechanism behind education is information.

Education is a higher stage of being informed in which you have learnt how to organize and utilize information acquired in order to solve prevailing problems in the world.

You may be informed but when you lack proper education, the information may be misused.

Education is the best legacy, but you say. “Well, I am talented, I am gifted, I will turn out as a successful musician, actor, sportsman, or so, why do I need to be educated and put myself through the rigour of syllabuses and curriculums? 

Let me remind you that education is what will remain with you when you can carry those limbs anymore, even among superstars; education has become a major yardstick of measuring achievements in life. Note: it is important for you to acquire more education in your areas of speciality, whether in or out of school or through the internet.

The price of success in education is persistence. In fact the price to success in most areas of life has been discovered to involve persistence. Most often, it is not the most gifted and brilliant that comes out victorious in life but the most dogged and persistent individual. Note that the grade that you graduate with in school does not determine your grade in life.

It is better to aim for the best in life but if academically so far, you don’t have the best, well hope is not lost, education is not meant for you to get ahead of everybody all the time, it is meant for you to get the best out of yourself, so all you need to do is tell yourself “I have to get better and better until I am the best that I can be”.

Now education is not and should not be narrowed to our field of studies or areas of expertise alone.

I will advise that you get all the knowledge that you are capable of getting to educate yourself because you never know when and where you will be in need of them. Africa is a continent which I believe can make use of all the knowledge that you have to implement a positive change and make your dreams come true.
